PTFE (TFE) and Kynar - PVDF are both experiencing long lead times.
PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene product PTFE (TFE) along with Kynar manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The worldwide requirement for this mineral has risen significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and incredibly low co-efficient of friction (slippery) and is utilized in dozens of applications from non-stick fry cookware to ptfe tape for personal use. This particular mineral is a critical raw material in the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and a lot of refrigerants. This surge in demand coupled with shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double within the past year), shortages, and we expect both these factors to stay in affect in the near future.
